נשיא המדינה ורעייתו נפגשו עם תושבים מיישובי עוטף עזה והדרום

על רקע הטרור האכזרי שפקד את תושבי עוטף עזה והדרום, נפגשו נשיא המדינה יצחק הרצוג ורעייתו מיכל, היום, יום חמישי, כ״ז בתשרי, 12 באוקטובר, עם תושבי הישובים, הקיבוצים, והערים מעוטף עזה ומדרום הארץ אשר פונו למלון במרכז.

התושבים שיתפו בסיפורי הגבורה הכואבים, והאבדות אותן ספגו, והציפו בפני הנשיא את הקשיים והצרכים העולים בעת הזאת. למפגש הגיעה ענבל ליברמן, תושבת קיבוץ ניר עם ורבש״צית הקיבוץ אשר הצליחה להציל את חייהם של תושביו בזכות תושיה יוצאת דופן וזיהוי הירי מרחוק. ענבל סיפרה לנשיא המדינה איך קיבלה במהירות החלטה על הקפצת כיתת הכוננות אשר הדפה מחבלים ובזכותה, קיבוץ ניר עם הוא הקיבוץ עם מספר האבדות הנמוך ביותר בעוטף עזה.

הנשיא ביקש לחזק את ידם של התושבים ואמר: ״אנחנו במאמץ לאומי עצום. באנו הנה כדי להזדהות, כדי לתמוך, כדי לחזק אתכם ולומר לכם שבסוף אנחנו נראה לא רק את האור אלא גם נחנוך שמחה, אבל עכשיו אנחנו בתוך המערכה. כעם, אנחנו צריכים להתגבר, להלחם, אחר כך נעשה את החשבון בשאר הדברים. אנחנו אתכם. חיזקו ואמצו יקירים!״
